Portsmouth New Hampshire Wedding \\ Louisa and Derek \\ Sheraton \\ Goodwin Garden - Strawberry Banke Museum

Louisa and Derek's wedding had an incredibly unique reception.  Really the whole day seem to fit them perfectly, but I've never seen an entire reception set up like a cocktail party.  It was fantastic and made for a really unique way to celebrate.

They started their day getting ready at a private residence in Portland, followed by a beautiful ceremony in the gardens of Goodwin Garden - Strawberry Banke Museum, which was the first time I've been there, but it was a beautiful location to get married.  Then we crossed the street and enjoyed their reception.

Enjoy their story!

Glen Magna Farms Wedding

Glen Magna Farms Wedding

She's The One!

Shane knew that he was going to marry Meghan from the first time he met her, but Meghan had to be convinced. Obviously, since this is a wedding, she fell for him too. Sounds like a story from a Hollywood romantic comedy - too amazing to be true, but alas here we are and the truth it is. (We have sources - check the video).

This wedding was so much fun to capture. This was the first time I have seen a brass band used to march the bride and groom into the reception. What a fun and exciting entrance! How could that not get the party started?

It was at the beautiful Glen Magna Farms in Danvers Massachusetts. I love all the beautiful greens. Great location to get married. We wish the best to Shane and Meghan’s new wedding!

Little Black Dress?

Little Black Dress?

"My engagement pictures are next week!! Yay!" "Oh man, what am I going to wear??"

"The little black dress?"

Yes!! If you are going for mysterious and powerful that is. You see the COLOR you wear actually sets the mood of the photo shoot.

Colors are powerful. Think about those nights you decide to rock the red dress. You are commanding attention, making a statement about confidence and power. If you had put on a cute green dress instead, you would be setting a very different mood. One of calmness, loyalty, stability.

I love this stuff! Check out what your colors are saying:

So with that in mind, here are my top 3 tips for picking out the color you are going to wear on your engagement shoot:

2014-07-16_0007.jpg

Make sure the color you are wearing, looks awesome next to the color your hunny is going to wear. If you are rocking the bright and vibrant, don't put your man or woman in a pastel.

2014-07-16_0006.jpg Think about the backdrop. If we are shooting at a park, green might not be the best bet. You'll blend right on in with the grass. But a yellow or white or red would pop and look great! Pick a color that will stand out against the background we are shooting in.

2014-07-16_0005.jpg I love variety. Bring different outfits to your shoot, and you will end up with a lot more variation in your pictures. In one evening we can go from sassy and sexy (red) to sweet and innocent (white). Just with a swap of a shirt! Mix it up and have some fun!

For the Love of Disney

Disney Wedding Film New England

Disney

Disney Wedding Film New England

There is no doubt that Disney is a magical place. It has a certain pull that is sometimes unexplainable. Kayla and Michael can probably explain it better than most as they have an undeniable love for Disney. While this wedding wasn’t a Disney themed wedding there were some hints about their love of Disney - two toast mentioned it, they had their names in the Disney font and the topping of the cake was a Disney castle. It was fantastic.

Disney is a magical place

There’s also no doubt that Kayla and Michael have that same magical love for each other as well. You can see in his face when she first starts walking down the aisle. You can hear in their laughs when they joke around. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding! Here’s their wedding story! Enjoy!

Debra + Mike Vermont Wedding

Wiffle Ball

Sparkler Exit from Vermont Destination Wedding

I met Debra and Mike when they were traveling to New Hampshire for a wiffle ball tournament. That’s right Mike was in a wiffle ball tournament. How cool is that?!? From my understanding his team is undefeated when Mike is playing. If only there was a pro league, Mike could go pro. I knew instantly that these two were going to be a ton of fun and I wasn’t wrong.

This is the first time we’ve filmed in Vermont and it was a destination wedding for Debra and Mike. I’ve been through Vermont before and everytime it catches me off guard by how amazingly beautiful it is. Debra and Mike found an amazing spot at the Equinox Resort. Right behind it is this isolated pavilian that has the backdrop of a mountain (big hill? I’m from Texas, we think any land the goes up is a mountain) and it’s right on the water.  Perfect wedding location.

Fun Day!

Groom Wedding Video Selfie in Vermont

Mike was kind enough to share a selfie he took with Lori (one of Latimer Studio’s great cinematographers).  Thanks Mike!

Their family is from all over, some as close as New Hampshire and others from California, so it was a great mix from all over the United States. They had a small wedding of about 40 of their closest friends and family. It was so much fun. We got to spend some time that morning watching Mike and his friends play golf to get ready for the big day and see Debra hang out with her sister, mother and mother-in-law. I think the mornings is one of my favorite parts to capture of a wedding day. It’s when everyone’s excited about the wedding, but still a little nervous. It’s a great combination and people's genuine personalities and excitement shines through.

Enjoy their story!
