No Travel Fees to Dallas/Fort Worth - um why?

Are you getting married in Dallas (really, anywhere in the Dallas - Fort Worth area)?  We'll film your DFW wedding on our dime.  That's right, we're paying for the travel so we can tell your story.

There are a couple things we love.  We love our family.  We love to travel.  We love stories and we love weddings.  If you didn't know, Laura and I (Daniel) are from Texas.  Most of our family is still there and we want to visit them as much as possible.

Here they are (minus a sister who wasn't on this trip).

Contact us and let us know about your wedding.  We would love to tell your story!

We're Pregnant // The best baby announcement ever

This is a family business.  Truly, we love it.  The cinematography team (Lori and Daniel) is a married couple.  Well that married couple is having a baby!

We really wanted to surprise our family, so we invited our family to a cabin in Vermont over the Christmas break.  My (Daniel) family is still in Texas so they flew up for the holiday and Lori's family is in New England.  We surprised them on Christmas Eve.

We gave our families mugs that say, "The best moms get promoted into grandmothers."  I'll let you figure out what the mugs for any who wasn't a mom.  You can see our parents reaction at the end of the video.

We spent one day of the trip making the video below with our family.  We brainstormed it over an hour or so and then wrote it over night.  Laura's (my sister and the amazing photographer of Latimer Studios) boyfriend Gabe did the amazing voice over.

It was so much fun and we are so excited!  Enjoy.

Latimer Studios Engagement Video

This will be one of the only times I will ask that you watch the film before you read the story!  It has a bit of a twist ending and I'll explain how it came together after.

Ok, so you’ve now watch the film right?  I trust you.  This was an actual proposal that Katie had no idea was going to happen.

This was so much fun and I was so excited to be able to help Jacob propose.  Lori and I have been friends with Jacob and Katie for a while and we could not be happier to see them engaged!

Background

In addition to telling wedding stories, I also work part time at a church doing video and IT work.  It’s not uncommon that I will ask my friends to help with a church video project, so that’s how we set this up.

Jacob (the person who proposed at the end) and I sat down for lunch one day and hashed through a bunch of ideas.  Jacob wanted to include their good friends from church so we had to pretend that it was a church video.

The idea we liked best was that Katie would walk by people at the park and they would notice something uniquely special about her, which would cause them to follow her.

Jacob came up with this amazing idea of using some of the scenes to have actual props for the proposal in them.  The first scene has the actual ring in it and flowers that he gave Katie.  The second scene was the film crew.  We used them so that we could have a second video angle.

Jacob was fishing and underneath his fishing vest was a nice vest.  The last scene had a stroller in it that had the banner and other props in it.  Great way to bring it all together.

Filming

Jacob found a perfect location at Mine Falls park in Nashua.   We filmed for about an hour before that last shot where he proposed occured.  This made it more believable that it was actually a church video.

At the end of the video she walks for a while, which feels unnaturally, but for many videos the end has a title screen, so it’s just the title of the message over moving action.  It was a believable scenerio.

I told Katie that at the very end I wanted her to turn around (on my queue) and see everyone following her and run away.  So I counted to three and bviously she turned around to something different/ amazing.   Her reaction is very authentic.  I loved it.

Congratulations!

Disney Destination Wedding

Destination wedding location - Florida!

This last weekend Lori and I (Daniel) went to Clearwater, Florida to watch two friends of ours get married (a fun destination wedding), We are so excited for them. It was a beautiful wedding! We decided that since we are going to Florida for the wedding we might as well make a long weekend out of it. So we went down three days early and enjoyed some of Orlando’s finest attractions.

When I say finest attractions, I mean Disney. Growing up, my father, was the biggest Disney fan I had ever met. He has gone to Disney every chance he can and I have fond memories of going there as a child. Lori, on the other hand, has only been one time when she was 7 so she has very little memory of Disney. Her biggest memory was riding Dumbo. Yes, we got on the Dumbo ride. It was a blast to go back!

Why are you telling me this?

This post isn’t about a wedding film (or a destination wedding for that matter). This post is about a passion project that I did. It’s my way of taking a small break from weddings for a weekend and doing something different. We decided we wanted to make a vacation video, but also knew that most vacation videos are pretty boring for anyone other than the people that went.

Lori and I decided that we just wanted to show a quick montage of our weekend and nothing more. So we took our GH4 and shot a lot of slow-motion and other footage throughout the weekend. We narrowed it down to two minutes of epic fun. I hope you enjoy!

Weddings?

As far as the wedding we attended goes, it was the first time in about a year and 1/2 that we have been to a wedding and not filmed it. We thought about bringing a camera for some of the highlight video, but decided to just stay out of the way of the professionals and enjoy it from the our table.

Don’t worry though, we are back in New Hampshire and we have two weddings (although neither is a destination wedding) to film this weekend. Shannon and Mike’s wedding will be on the blog next week (edit: Here is their wedding - "Love has a Funny Way"). Stay tuned!
